Magen Norris
Moulton Branch Elementary School
Lowndes County School System

As a third grade classroom teacher, Ms. Norris has recently implemented the use of several laptops in her classroom to increase student engagement.

She uses the computers for many of the subjects and skills taught, however, the main focus is on 3rd grade writing initiatives.

Students have access to their own Wiki in which they write narratives, informational articles, persuasive prose, and responses to literature read in class. Using the Wiki for writing has allowed the students to have instant feedback and corrections of their writings, whether it be from themselves, another student, the teacher, or even a parent or administrator.

Ms. Norris believes that this innovation will prove to show increased student engagement resulting in a higher level of writing and a deeper level of understanding of the writing process.
